Founded by Artistic Director and choreographer Serge Bennathan, Les Productions Figlio is a production house devoted to the creation of artistic works that break creative barriers; our projects encompass theatre, dance, music, multi-media, visual art and literary works. Through imagination, humanity, poetry and humor, Les Productions Figlio aims to use art to reach out to people of all ages and backgrounds. Based in Vancouver, we tour our work and continue to create new and diverse artistic projects for our local community. In 2010, a motley crew of bloggers, pundits and provocateurs arrived in Israel from the land of the True North Strong and Free. Their mission was to tour the country and get an up-close understanding of a region whose international media coverage generates intense heat without an equal measure of illumination. Although most people who pay attention to international news seem to think they have already discovered Israel, relatively few actually visit this place. They spoke with Israeli politicians, officials of the Palestinian authority and ordinary citizens from all walks of life. They traveled to the holy places and the secular hot-spots. Read their stories - learn from their discovery of a place we all think we know about.

Review From The House is an entertainment website providing reviews  and commentaries on theatre, food, wining and dining and other cultural events from a home base of Vancouver, BC. In addition, the  website offers Travelblogues focused on ballroom dancing, cultural and dining experiences during land travels in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia, and dancing at sea cruises.  All the musings on theatre, sipping and supping, and travels, solo or otherwise, reflect the perceptions of a mature (not aged) retired urbanite with a literary bent, an addiction to puns, an obsession with dancing (of almost any kind)  and a sense of humour appreciated by few.

The mandate of New Orchestra Workshop Society (NOW) is to provide a focus for the creation of an original West Coast musical idiom through concert performances and recordings, supporting the creation of new Canadian compositions, and offering free educational workshops to the public. NOW and its flagship ensemble Orkestra Futura exist to create, develop and provide a focus for original music that fuses composition with improvisation and is distinctly a product of the Canadian West Coast experience. We are committed to providing opportunities for musicians to gain musical experience and exposure to an improvisational community of creative artists and audiences. By producing recordings, concerts and tours, NOW and Orkestra Futura engage in adventurous work and offer composers a context in which to develop new compositions. Canadian audiences benefit by exposure to local and international artists who are making a lasting contribution to improvisational music. We also develop and implement workshops to explore improvised music and its relationship to other disciplines such as dance, theatre, spoken word, video and film.

Synergy Collective Society is a community-based organization that blends art with social responsibility to support and create cooperative community programming. Led by Yvonne McSkimming, the society combines theoretical and practical training in community stewardship and planning to develop and support integrated partnerships between local charities, businesses and artisans. Their work includes ongoing special events featuring performers which help raise funds for selected causes.  Past groups that Synergy has supported include the Vancouver Foster Parent program and the Starlight Children's Foundation.

containR was sited at Vancouver's SHAW Tower court yard, across from the Olympic Cauldron during the 2010 Olympics from February 12-28. containR featured 48 films from around the world, including 5 commissioned films made specifically for containR and broadcast on Bravo!FACT / CTV. Commissioned filmmakers were: Murray Siple, Miryam Bouchard, Kathleen Smith, Mark Adam and Marlene Millar & Philip Szporer. 2010 was curated by Nicole Mion & Evann Siebens. The containers were designed by Robert Duke,a long standing registered architect in Alberta, industrial designer Keith Doyle, and designer Iain Sinclair. It features murals by Vancouver artists the dark and Zak David (aka Virus).

Uzume Taiko is Canada’s premiere professional taiko drumming group.  Performing both nationally and internationally since 1988, the group has experience performing their unique brand of taiko drumming to different audiences, creating shows to perform at festivals, concert halls, schools, corporate and VIP events.  Collectively, the members of Uzume Taiko have over forty years experience teaching and performing taiko, and teach this ancient Japanese art of drumming at community workshops and classes throughout Canada, the United States and Europe. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Uzume Taiko has garnered much praise for their cross-boundary musical collaborations with artists such as Curtis Andrews, Paul Bray, Mearingstone, the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, Ben Rogalsky and Dave Corman.

This KUMON Learning Centre is conveniently located in the Saanich Centre mall (Victoria, BC). KUMON is the largest private supplemental educational program in the world, with over three million students currently enrolled worldwide. Tailored to the needs of each student, the program is individualized and paced so that the material is mastered before the student advances. Review and repetition form an integral part of the program as students will practice concepts until they are mastered. Kumon is suited to both the early learner, as well as those students who are in need of remedial assistance or are looking for enrichment. Due to the individualized nature of the program, students may begin Kumon at any time. In an introductory interview (which includes placement testing at no charge), parents will learn more about the curriculum and how it can benefit their children.

The online home of producer - mixer - engineer Howard Redekopp, this website is a uniquely visual and auditory experience. With an extensive portfolio of the various musical albums that Howard helped to create, all visitors can quickly see which groups have trusted the musical skills of this talented man.  The website also includes an audio portfolio where listeners can get a sense of the style which Howard brings to his work.  Basic contact information is also provided.

Ann Marie Fleming is an award-winning Canadian independent filmmaker, writer and artist, born in Okinawa, of Chinese and Australian parentage. Her film work incorporates various techniques: animation, documentary, experimental, dramatic, and primarily deals with themes of family, history and memory, in a continuing media critique. Created by a group of volunteers who work in the education field, BC Field Trips is a website which promotes the value of learning both inside and outside the classroom. They believe that field trips can offer students unique experiences and significant learning opportunities. Through field trips, students will better understand and appreciate the world around them. In addition, field trips truly provide experiences that cannot be duplicated in the classroom. They are an essential component of learning and should be encouraged for all ages.  Most importantly, field trips are an important means to provide students with access to expertise in the community.

This unique service is supported by teachers and exhibitors who choose to participate in the annual field trip fair and to use the online resources.

Baitcar.com is operated by the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT). Based in Surrey, BC, the team consists of 22 specialized police auto theft investigators from seven police forces in the Greater Vancouver Area. IMPACT's mandate is to develop innovative strategies to reduce auto crime in British Columbia.

What's a bait car? It is a vehicle owned by the police and is intended to be stolen. After a bait car is stolen, the location, speed, and direction of travel of the vehicle is monitored by police dispatchers at through GPS tracking. Everything that takes place inside the bait car is caught on audio and video. The dispatcher will coordinate a police response and once officers are in position behind the bait car, the engine will be disabled at the click of a mouse button which allows for the quick arrest of the car thieves.
